Everything's Coming Up Roses!

An ancient symbol of love, roses have been around for thousands of years.

One sniff of a rose and you’re treated to a multi-layered fragrance. Roses are a made up of a blend of complex yet delicate compounds, making it a scent that’s instantly recognizable. That’s why you’ll find it in many of our products from rose oil and rose absolute to rose petals, rose water and rose wax, roses give our delights a soothing touch and a beautiful scent.

Rose oil

The rose oil we use comes from gently steam distilling damask rose petals. Its fragrant nature lends itself perfectly to products like our Rose Jam Bubbleroon to give it a super soft and silky texture with a delicate scent. It also softens chapped lips in the sweet and hydrating Rose Lollipop Lip Balm. Dry, rough, irritated or mature skin? You’ll want to reach for products with plenty of rose oil, which helps soothe and restore skin.

Rose absolute

Just like rose oil, rose absolute is obtained through a distillation process. The end product is often described as “the true essence of rose” because of its intensely fragrant scent. It’s like a thicker version of rose oil but with a scent that really packs punch. You’ll find it in Dream Cream Body Lotion and our Argan Naked Facial Oil where it helps to soothe, calm and moisturize the skin.

Rose petals

Fresh, dried, chopped or whole, we pack some of our most beloved products with rose petals. Rose petals provide soothing, toning and calming properties especially for irritated skin. They’re also gentle, which is why we suggest Rosy Cheeks Fresh Face Mask and our Soak and Float Shampoo Bar for sensitive skin.

Rose water

For centuries, rose water has been used as a skin-soothing ingredient. Ancients Greeks and Romans would infuse rose petals in water (just like making tea) and it’s still how we do it today. We use rose water in a few of our gentlest products like Eau Roma Water Toner Water, Ultrabland Facial Cleanser and Jade Roller Naked Cleansing Balm, because it helps retain moisture and is mildly astringent, so skin is left looking balanced and even.

Rose wax

Extracted from rose concrete (a substance that’s left behind after soaking rose petals in natural alcohol and then filtering the mixture many times), rose wax is a compound that has a subtle scent and a thick, emollient texture. It gives Ultrabland a rich texture that’s not just moisturizing, but protective, too!
