As an emollient, kukui nut butter moisturizes and protects skin and hair. It soothes dry skin, has a dry feel and absorbs easily.
The small evergreen Aleurites moluccana is found across most warm countries of East Asia. It’s called ‘candlenut tree’ because the nuts can be lit and serve as candles. To make kukui oil, the nuts are boiled in their shell, husked, then sun-dried and pressed.
