To cover white hair try this two step process ...

star-star-filled star-star-filled star-star-filled star-star-filled star-star-filled

Philadelphia | 10 days ago

I received excellent advice from customer service and have been following it ever since to cover the totally white strands that I cannot yet deal with - glad to ditch the drugstore dyes! Marron for 2 hours will turn super white virgin roots orange. I follow this with an application of Brun for 1 1/2 hours to achieve a rich auburn. If I leave the Brun on longer the end result will be more of a reddish-brown but I like that the auburn looks like painterly highlights next to my naturally reddish-brown hair. I was told that the rouge and marron hennas will not do much more than tint white hair yellow-gold to orange - but this step is necessary for the darker brun to take hold. I am not sure how this formula would affect grays ...? I haven't found anything as natural as LUSH hennas that works as well - the coconut butter really conditions my coarse curls and it saves a step of mixing my own concoction! Hope this helps!

More like Rouge in disguise

I purchased this with Rouge for a two step process to cover my greys hoping for what I consider is a chestnut brown. Well, I can tell you that this doesn't have enough Indigo in it to make it any darker than Rouge. My greys looked the same after doing the 2 steps as if I had only used the Rouge. And worse, after 3 days...it was Bozo the clown red! LOL! It also faded after about 3 weeks so all that was left was the initial Rouge. At least it left my hair nice and soft.

I would buy this product again and again

After freaking about the early gray hair and not wanting to resort to chemical hair colors, I looked up natural options and discovered this. I am of Indian origin so have seen henna being used back home as well. I have dark brown hair with golden brown highlights and decided to use this because I didn't want to go very dark. On Saturday morning, I chopped up half the block (I have shoulder length hair) and mixed it well in boiling water and applied it generously to my hair, wrapped it and left it for 4 hours before washing it off. I didn't apply shampoo to my hair till Monday morning to let the henna keep working its magic, and was amazed by the results. Even though I had read that marrón henna may not cover grays, my gray hair acquired a dark golden color and my hair overall became very soft and voluminous. It's been four weeks now and the color is still there and my hair are very soft and manageable. I love it and I will definitely be using it again.

First time dying my hair, ever.

I am 27, male and currently growing out my hair. I found my hair dull, so I was curious and gave this a try. It works wonderfully. I have dark brown hair, and this gave it a nice red/brown hue. I have purchased 3 blocks so far. To give the product the best chance DO NOT wash your hair for 3 days. I did it a few hours after a shower, and there was no results. You will also want to take a cheese grater to the squares you break off. Take your time mixing in boiling water and stir till dissolved. For clean up, I suggest buying some dog training pads to lay on the floor and sink. Leave it in for four hours atleast. (Plastic wrap and a shower cap worked for me). Everyone complimented my hair. And those who didnt notice the subtle dye change they complimented how shiney it was. You can do the henna every other week to build up the thickness and dye.

Confused and Disappointed

I'm giving it three stars because it definitely works, and this time I decided to try the dark brown red. It's definitely not the deep chestnut-red tones I was told it was going to be! My hair is a bright red orange and I feel so embarrassed because it's not what I wanted nor does it look good on me. I've used the black and dark brown henna dye before and I thought that this would be a dark red-brown like the package states and like the employee said in the store! It worked but now I just feel dumb.

Beautiful vibrant color!

My brown hair with blonde highlights is Copper Red Canyon after using Maron. Thank you to everyone that took the time to leave application tips, the only thing I have to add is use a warm, damp terry turban to cover after application followed by the tin foil cap. I was able to pull off the tin foil and hold my head over boiling water every 15 minutes to keep it warm and damp. Rinse it off under the bathtub faucet with conditioner. I do with Lush would introduce a purple tone.

I have been using this product for about 8 years now (since high school!!) and I'm 23. My hair is naturally a very dull brown with some grays. This adds such a beautiful, natural richness and makes me more of a red head. It feels great to have found a beautiful color without ever damaging my hair. If you don't get the color change urge like some people and are happy with sticking to one color for awhile then this is your match. Only downside is you really can't dye your hair after (until it all grows out) but that doesn't bother me because I love it. also the application is very forgiving but MESSY.

Understand that henna is a commitment. You can't go back and forth between this and traditional color/highlights. This is for people who no longer want the chemicals associated with salon hair color and dyes. Also understand that it will be messy and hard at first. There is a learning curve but you will get the hang of it. It helps to have someone to help you, gloves, color application brush, a dark shirt, and a dark towel or cape that can get stained. You should apply vaseline or some other skin protectant all the way around your hairline (360 degrees) to avoid staining your skin. You can chop the henna, use a food processor, or even a handheld grater or microplane. Mix in water very slowly, little by little so it doesn't get too runny. You don't want it running down your face when you apply it. You want it to be muddy so it will stay in place. You need to leave it on for hours. Remember I said it was a commitment! The results are great. My hair is naturally a medium brown with about 20-30% gray. Using Marron looks like I got expensive copper highlights for a few bucks a month. One bar of Marron lasts me several months. It all depends on how much hair you have, how fast your hair grows, and how often you want to apply it. Good luck!
