Item No. 03743
Itchy, dandruff-ridden scalps are a literal pain. When scales build up on the scalp and can't be removed with shampooing, this is the scalp treatment you need. This supremely soothing ointment of coconut oil, candelilla wax and chamomile blue oil calms and moisturizes scalps while salicylic acid (formed naturally from meadowsweet) softens dry, flaky buildup so it can be washed out more easily. Anyone with a dry, troubled scalp will find relief after using this super treatment.

Worst product ever

Singapore | 5 days ago

I shampooed my hair 5 times and still it looks like I did not wash it in weeks. It feels waxy and the amount of shampoo I have been using can't be good for my scalp. Never used a product that bad for my hair.

So far so good... and some tips!

I got this to help with my scalp psoriasis And so far so good... I haven't seen a massive improvement yet, but all products take some time so I'm not put off by it yet. I'm going to give it a few weeks before I decide if it's a permanent part of my routine or not. A lot of the reviews are negative because the user wasn't able to wash out Superbalm and had issues as a result, but I haven't had that problem at all... here's what I do: 1) Warm up the superbalm so that it melts a bit and becomes translucent... I scooped a bit into the lid and balanced it on my leg while I used it. It is much easier to use when it's liquid-y 2) Section off your hair so that you have direct access to your scalp... I found horizontal sections were easier to work with than vertical ones, 3) Massage Superbalm into your scalp, and let sit for 20 minutes or so. 4) Jump in the shower and shampoo it out... let the shampoo sit for a few minutes while you do other shower stuff (wash, shave, etc) and then rinse it out. Follow up with a conditioner if you want. I haven't had any issues washing it out when I follow these steps. Good luck fellow lushies!

The only thing that worked

Denver CO | 12 days ago

Long story short, I've tried everything I could think of to get rid of flakes and itching on my scalp. It got so bad that it was like a snow globe when I would take off my hat. VERY embarrassing and no shampoo/cream/oil/leave in conditioner did much for long. My boyfriend bought this for me and I was skeptical since everything else failed. The day after the first use I noticed HUGE flakes peeling from my hairline and thought "great, I made it worse", but those were the last big flakes I saw. The second day after the first use, I noticed I could take my hat off without any "snowfall" and it stayed like this for a week. Eventually I noticed some small flakes coming back so I massaged it in again and the next day I was back to normal, no flakes at all! I've used it weekly for a month and am beyond grateful for this product. It does leave your hair a little waxy feeling the first day after you wash it out, but I don't care! It works, smells good, and I can wear black and run my fingers through my hair in public again. If you have flakes, buy this product. It works.

Never again

I purchased Superbalm hoping it would help and I wouldn't need to resort to pharmacy products. The product itself feels like putting thick vaseline directly on my scalp (and hair). Not only was it almost impossible to actually put on and spread on my scalp alone, but it was nearly impossible to take off. It actually made my scalp worse and left my hair greasy as all hell. It took over a week for it to wash out completely. I usually love Lush products but this is NOT okay.

It worked on my psoriasis!

Overall, this has become a staple for me! Like others have said, it definitely does leave a residue, but overall it's worth it for me. I have severe psoriasis and eczema on the back of my scalp. NOTHING has worked until now. Though it didn't totally remove the itch, it provides a great deal of relief AND the flaking was substantially lessened. I use this about 1-2 times per week. I skipped one use while in a rush and the flakes and severe itch returned, so it definitely works. I would advise to only put a small amount on the most affected areas to avoid a lot of greasiness, but if you have eczema or psoriasis, I highly recommended this!

Not exactly sure

Denver, Colorado | 28 days ago

From time to time my scalp gets really dry and itchy, so I wanted to try this out to replace having to occasionally use head & shoulders. The process of using it was fine, but after my hair had dried it looked as though my hair was drenched in grease. It left a LOT of residue and I needed to shower again and douse my hair in shampoo to really wash it out. I will say that my scalp felt better but it was a real process. Will try again and hopefully with spending some extra time in the shower it will wash out completely the first time

I really like this

This scalp balm really helps with dandruff and itchiness because I used to itch my scalp a lot and now I don't itch as often anymore. I used to see dandruff on my hair sometimes too but now I don't at all. This is a really effective product. It did feel really weird to put on at first, but I got used to it eventually.

Effective, but does leave some residue.

Washington DC | 1 month ago

I apply this on my dry scalp and let it sit for 20-30 minutes before hopping in the shower. It does take a little more effort than my everyday shampoo to get all the residue out, but I will take it for the relief it gives to my itchy scalp. Just don't use it on days where you need to go somewhere because I always inevitably miss a spot that ends up looking a little greasy.

Staple since 2015

Utica, MI | 1 month ago

This saves my dandruff! I get dry dandruff on my scalp, even when it's clean. I put this treatment on every time I wash my hair (2 times a week) and I'm good for 2-3 days no wash. I have thick, dry, south Asian hair. This has been in my rotation scene 2015. It's expensive, but lasts 3 months.
