When I first got this, I was still bleaching my hair, and I was impatient and it seemed to make no difference in my already-bleached-beyond-wisdom hair. I wanted instant results like with peroxide sun lightening products. But now that years later I used it on a head of virgin hair, I see that it gently pulls out my natural highlights and just brightens up my naturally mousy dirty blonde hair, pushing it more to the blonde side. I use it on wet hair in the bathtub for about half an hour. It's non-damaging for my hair, though my hair is undamaged to begin with.

Honestly super dissapointed. Made my hair extremely dry and brittle - only left in for 29 minutes.

Hair is so soft

My hair has been through a bit of bleaching and this hair mask has been a great add on to my blonde hair care routine. I've also been using Daddy-o and Rehab and my hair feels and looks great. One thing that tripped me up though was the batch I got wasn't at all bright yellow like pictured- I don't know if that's supposed to be like that but the product still seems to work.

Maybe I'm using it wrong?

So I have used this twice since going blonde. I rub it into my dry hair, leave it for about 20 minutes, and get in the shower to shampoo it out with a honey I washed the kids bar. Once I rinse out the shampoo my hair feels like straw. Just awful and dry, like hard to put a brush through :( I love everything lush so I don't understand why it feels so terrible. A drug store conditioning treatment felt SO much better. Should I just rinse it and skip the shampoo?

Great if you're blond is prone to brassiness

I have naturally dirty blond hair and balayage it to bring out the blond more. However, because of the hard water in my apartment, I am prone to those blond streeks becoming brassy. I used this on my blond once or twice a month (I only wash my hair 2x/week as is) and it has really helped stop that brassiness from setting in.

I'm a beauty-product pessimist, Marilyn made me eat my words

I'm the sort of person that scoffs at soap and beauty marketing so this is a humbling moment: I love Marylin. All my life I've had too-greasy/too-dry hair with no in-between so I had given up on beauty products after spending out my butt on everything. But Lush has outdone itself it seems, because my hair has never felt so good in my life. Marilyn is sort of a pre-conditioner you scrub intro dry hair and let sit for twenty minutes, then wash out and do your normal routine. Typically within 6 hours my hair is back to enough grease to fry bacon, but even over 24 hours later my hair feels.... like hair! Not like greasy bacon! Or dry straw. And I don't get any flaking scalp to top it all off. Over two decades of hair grossness and apparently I just needed to try Lush. Marilyn even does what it says for hair color: I'm a "dirty blond," so my blond isn't what you see in magazines. I look much better in the summer with more sun and just after a shower when I've washed off all the dark grease. But there's a noticeable boost to my hair tone with this. Marilyn is pretty expensive, but I had bought the Honey I Washed the Kids shampoo bar on a whim awhile back and dug it out when I ran out of shampoo and needed something to tide me over. Wow, the shampoo bar was amazing! After using it up and going back finally for a second bar, I figured I could try another product and splurged on Marilyn. The combo has my hair even healthier and better than ever. The shampoo bar lasted a long time so I can't say enough about the effectiveness from a cost, formula, and packaging perspective. No plastic to toss out at the end either. I've added Marilyn to the routine for the past couple months now too and I'm just flabbergasted and entirely sold on the combo. I actually like having hair now! I got into the habit of buzzing my head years ago to escape how gross it made me feel, and while the haircut has grown on me, I could imagine myself growing it out again if it felt like this the whole time

Marilyn is absolutely everything! It makes my hair so soft and it smells incredibly lovely. I am a bleach-blonde prince, and Marilyn is the only thing I've found that makes my hair feel like real hair again! It is my cult classic and I surely will be buying it for ages to come.

I liked how my hair felt and looked after using this product. I used it all up, but I doubt I will purchase it again. It was a bit difficult to apply, and didn't do enough for lightening to justify the price for me.

I have fine very blonde hair. It made my hair SUPER soft, no change in color but that's probably Bc I'm already very blonde and need to use it a few more times. I also love the smell not over powering but enough to know it's there.

The Best thing for Blondes

I love this product so much! In between visits to the salon, I tend to notice a bit of brassiness. Using Marilyn once a week has totally turned my hair around; my blonde is so much brighter, and my hair is so soft and easy to manage afterwards. I also like that there isn't much of a scent either. Best product for blondes I've ever used. Love it!!
