The Green World Campaign (GWC) uses tree-planting, eco-agriculture, and holistic education to help struggling communities restore degraded land, attain food and water security, and emerge from poverty. Founded in 2006 by bestselling author Marc Ian Barasch (The Compassionate Life), GWC has worked on three continents, and is now focused on Kenya, a country which has lost 80% of its tree cover. Children in 100 Green World Schools programs there plant up to 2000 trees per school, and villagers grow drought-resistant “superfood” moringa trees for nutrition and oil. In partnership with LUSH, 15 schools in parched areas of Kilifi, Kenya will be given equipment to harvest rainwater; 15,000 children will receive eco-education; and 60,000 multipurpose trees will be planted. We work toward a bold goal: “ReGreen the World in One Generation.”
