Save the Rain teaches communities at risk of drought how to harvest and filter rain water for a safe, sustainable water source. Catchment systems are built by local people using local materials, so are easily maintained and repaired. The systems are done as cost-effectively as possible: $15 pays for one person and their children to receive water for the rest of their lives. Over the last 5 years, Save the Rain has helped more than 175,000 people gain access to clean water in 26 villages in two East African countries.
How we helped
LUSH contributed funds towards the construction of two community rainwater harvesting systems: one in Oldeves, Tanzania and one in Mikungani, Tanzania. These systems will serve the entire villages with sustainable, safe drinking water.
