Salt River Wild Horse Management Group

The majestic wild horses of the Salt River are a local treasure, a living piece of history and the icon of the wild and free spirit of Arizona and the American West. In August 2015, The U.S. Forest Service announced its plan to round up the horses to be sold at auction or ""otherwise disposed of"". The Salt River Wild Horse Management Group (SRWHMG) rallied enormous public and political support and the Forest Service rescinded the impound notice as a result. The SRWHMG has been documenting and monitoring these wild horses for almost 20 years and fight for their permanent protection.

How we helped

Lush has helped the Salt River wild horses by making a study possible to research all aspects of the ecological balance and value of wild horses in their environment.
