RED Sustainable Travel Project

RED de Turismo Sustentable y Desarrollo Social, A.C. implements sustainable tourism models that strengthen family businesses and micro-enterprises in rural communities throughout northwest Mexico, generate non-extractive employment alternatives, and support the conservation of endangered species and habitat in natural protected areas and priority regions for biodiversity conservation. RED believes that socio-economic development and conservation go hand in hand, and that local residents have an important role to play as stewards of the natural resources that surround them.​

How we helped

The funding will support a project within the Sierra La Laguna Biosphere Reserve to reverse deforestation, protect species and habitat, and involve local communities in conservation and management projects, as well as develop sustainable economic alternatives to extractive activities such as mining through sustainable tourism.
