Navdanya is a network of seed keepers and organic producers spread across 17 states in India. They are comitted to the conservation of agricultural biodiversity with the participation of indigenous communities.
The seeds saved through Navdanya have helped communities to recover after the Orissa super cyclone, tsunamis, draught and floods. Navdanya has fought and won cases of biopiracy; the patenting of indigenous knowledge for capital gain. Besides winning bio-piracy cases related to neem, basmati and wheat, Navdanya has continued to monitor the biopiracy of indigenous knowledge and biodiversity in the case of climate resilient crops and medicinal plants.
