Grassroots Economics Foundation

Prospering economies built by thriving communities.

How we helped

Over the coming year, thanks to the trailblazing generosity of Charity Pot, a network of more than 1000 small businesses, farmers and schools in rural Kenya will develop and expand their markets using an interest-free local-credit system (Sarafu-Credit) and create a resilient economy and environment. This program will pioneer the first cooperative farmer's market in Miyani and Bahakwenu Kenya, which will allow local credit (community currency) to flow between schools, farmers and small businesses and important environmental programs. Increased trade will provide local market stability and funding for tree planting and other environmental programs. This combination of environmental protection, increased trade and local production is the key formula for development.
