American River Watershed Institute

American River Watershed Institute supports education and research on the Bear and American River Watersheds in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. ARWI is known primarily for its scientific symposia on Extreme Precipitation and Fire Ecosystem Management, and for research on fire safe forest management and water quality. Through an EPA grant, ARWI developed a Climate Change Water Yield Calculator, and leads the fight to protect the remaining natural ecosystems of the Bear River.
