Amarok Society teaches uneducated mothers in the slums of Bangladesh how to read and write in their own language, to read and write in English (necessary in South Asia for economic advancement) and math. The Society also teaches life skills such as health, nutrition, child-care and conflict resolution. The mothers are then empowered to be neighbourhood teachers – educating their own and their neighbours’ children every day in their homes.
