Acid Survivors Trust International

Acid Violence is a form of premeditated violence usually committed against women. The act rarely kills but causes severe physical, psychological and social scarring and often occurs in countries where rehabilitation is extremely expensive or simply unavailable. ASTI works with partners in India, Nepal, Cambodia, Uganda, Pakistan and Bangladesh to raise local capacity to treat survivors and lower the number of attacks through awareness raising initiatives. ASTI assisted the directors of the 2012 Oscar winning documentary "Saving Face", which helped to bring the full horror and the courage of survivors of acid violence to a global audience.
