I work at a pool as a lifeguard and swim instructor. I'm in the pool every day for at least 5 hours. My face starts to feel like the sahara, becomes red and inflamed once I'm done my shift. I recently stopped by LUSH to explain my problem. I'd been using angels on bare skin and that was a fantastic cleanser but I needed something that leaves my skin softer, with more moisture. I was given Ultrabland and I use this religiously. It goes on so smoothly, a little on the greasy side, but if you have dry skin, especially in the winter, you need this cleanser. Once on, I take a cotton pad, soak it in hot water and wipe off the cleanser. My skin GLOWS after I use this cleanser. I like to top it off with a lighter cream like Imperialis. A real lifesaver! I couldn't go without.

Ultrabland definitely had some getting use to, but once I did, it became my miracle worker.

Because of it's application process (having to wipe off with a washcloth/cotton pads) I had a bit of a rough time at first working it into my morning routine. It's great to use in the shower, or personally I use it right when I get out of the shower, before I do my hair. Put it on, wipe it off, and while your face is drying from the wet washcloth, you can dry your hair. By the time your hair is done, your face is ready for a toner!

I have acne prone, sensitive skin. After years of using chemical laden products, my skin has turned into a bitter mess- one wrong move and it's irrated for days.
Ultrabland balances the perfect amount of clean, with the perfect amount of moisture. It is so, so gentle while at the same time leaving my skin feeling comfortably cleansed. I even love the smell, despite many other reviewers!

What's great is the application process is what makes this product perfect for sensitive skin. The action of wiping it off with a wash cloth works as an exfoliant- where usually products that claim to exfoliate rip my skin to shreds.

Also, guys, don't be hesitant to try out this cleanser because firstly it mentions to be a makeup remover. I don't wear makeup, and I'm loving this product all the same.

I have used liquid eye make-up remover for years. Even the most gentle seemed to irritate my eyes, but I think I became accustomed to the discomfort. It doesn't have to be that way! I bought Ultrabland solely to remove eye make-up (I already use Queen of Hearts as my facial cleanser) and it is wonderful! It is so gentle on your eyes, removes mascara without irritation and leaves the sensitive skin around my eyes feeling lush and moisturized! This is how I use it: I take a very little bit (a little goes a long way) and massage it onto my lashes. After a minute or so I gently remove with a cotton pad. Then I take a warm face cloth and gently dab away any excess. The skin around my eyes has never looked so healthy! Now I feel as beautiful with my make-up off as I did with it on! Highly recommend.

This is a very annoying product if you're new to it. Impossible to get off without a wash cloth, and beware using with cotton balls or you'll end up with a fuzzy face and Ultrabland left on. Its very difficult to remove, doesn't last long, stings the eyes and doesn't remove makeup effectively. I regretted buying it. I always had to follow up using it with a different cleanser. Useless

I don't often write reviews, but in this case it's worth it and I hope this helps someone. Here's my experience with Ultrabland so far:
At the end of this past summer, my husband and I were overjoyed to find out that we are expecting our first little bundle of joy. My skin, however, was not so happy. I started having terrible breakouts of hormonal acne around my mouth and chin. My doctor told me to just wait it out, as the changing hormones usually settle down after the first trimester. So wait I did, but it didn't get better. There were days when I didn't want to go out in public. What's more, so many products for acne-riddled skin were out during pregnancy because of the ingredients. Eventually, I reached out to Lush. Ultrabland seemed to be the only thing that didn't contain any ingredients I was told to avoid. I bought a large pot, along with a bottle of Eau Roma Water, and went to town.
I'm not going to lie- I didn't love it at first. I used it like a wipe off cleanser- I massaged it over my face and used a cotton round spritzed with Eau Roma to remove it, but I still felt like I needed to use another cleanser afterwards to get everything off and it didn't seem to be helping my skin. I gave up after a little while and started using it as an eye makeup remover only (fabulous, btw). I did go back to UB after a while, but I used it differently and I think that made all the difference. Instead of removing with a cotton round and toner, I started to remove it with a warm, damp washcloth and then followed with toner to make sure everything was off my face. THIS made the difference. My skin has improved so much. I won't say it's a miracle and I still get little breakouts every now and then (hormonal acne is a tough nut to crack), but I feel much better about the overall look of my skin, and the pimples I do get tend to be smaller and less painful than before. My skin always feels soft and smooth, and I don't need to moisturize afterwards at night because it is so gentle and non drying. This product removes makeup and cleanses in one easy step. Not only that, but a little goes a long way and a pot will last a long time.
If you're pregnant, suffering from monthly breakouts, or just have acne prone skin in general and are tired of all the harsh drying products out there, give this a go... it's worth it!

After using this product only a few times I noticed my face was so much softer. I'm 35 years old and have combination skin (oily in the T-zone, normal to dry everywhere else on my face) with the occasional breakout. I use this product every morning and every night. I was surprised at how little I actually needed for my whole face. I absolutely love this product. I will buy it over and over again. Thank you Lush for this great product.

To anyone who isn't having success with this product: Try removing ultrabland with a VERY hot cloth! I apply it before hopping in the shower in the morning, and this works great for me. I've never felt any sort of "residue" afterwards when I do this.

Ultrabland leaves my skin feeling soft, clean, and just lovely all around!
My skin has always, always been a problem for me. Left to its own devices my skin is very oily, red, and prone to pimples. Every cleanser I've tried has either dried my skin out (too strong), or been completely ineffective (resulting in greasy skin and more pimples).

Because I've always been prone to breakouts, I had never considered that an oil-based cleanser like Ultrabland might work for me; I just ignored it and focused on facial cleansers more geared towards drying up excess oil(such as coalface and dark angels). Thankfully, I impulsively requested a sample of ultrabland 2 months ago, and I haven't looked back since!

My skin is sooo much more balanced since I've started using this product, and so far I haven't experienced any breakouts either!
I'm in shock! I honestly didn't expect these kinds of results: My skin is FAR less oily now. I don't feel the need to wash/blot my face throughout the day; the red areas around my cheeks/nose are calmer; and pimples are a rarity.

In conjunction with ultrabland I also use: Tea tree water toner (I spritz it on before I was ultrabland off with a very hot cloth); Once or twice a week I apply ultrbland and then rinse off with either coalface or ocean salt; I also use enzymion moisturiser in the morning and full of grace serum at night (another one that I was hesitant to use, but was totally worth it) :) I should mention though, that I had been using all these products prior to the introduction of ultrabland into my routine, and ultrabland is definitely the "X-factor" that has made the difference!

I want to encourage anyone with similarly oily skin NOT to write this product off as I did. Give it a try; request a sample! It could work :) I'm certainly glad I did!

I absolutely love this product. It smells wondeful, and has a great texture. Don't be put off by the fact that it's greasy. Remember that like dissolves like. The oil it contains actually dissolves the oil in your pores and unclogs them. I've had blackheads/enlarged pores on my face, and especially my nose, for 35 years. I'm not even through my first tub and most of the blackheads are gone and the pores look actually smaller. I'm amazed.

However, don't use it the way it's recommened on the site, it doesn't work and actually turned me off this product, the first time I used it. Instead apply it over your face and massage it in. Next take a wash cloth, soak it in warm water and wring it. Apply to your face for a minute or so. If your face still feels too greasy, repeat. Don't be worried about the slight oiliness it leaves behind, you actually want this. Your skin will absord it happily and be mosturized. By morning your skin will feel just right. You might or might not need a moisturizer

I walked into lush with my website research done and i knew what i was buying, i didn't realize that you can ask for a product to be compared and tested on you. The lovely lush associate used 2 different cleansers on my hand with different moisturizers, and completely threw off my plan. But for the good. I chose ultra bland because it made my skin feel like it had been moisturized before i even had cream on. If you don't like that feel, she told me, than i can put on a toner and she used the delightful eau du roma which i already had and it was a great feeling on my hand after the toner as well. Using this routine at home i love, my face feels so soft and cleansed. I also really love the scent its like fresh beeswax (honey and a bit earthy) and its so creamy and takes off make up really well. The associate said that she uses waterproof mascara and it works well for that as well.

This was maybe the second or third product I tried from this store. But it was the first product that hooked me to this store forever.

I was given a sample of this when I bought another item. I got about 2 uses out of the sample. It made my face noticeably softer. But, that wasn't what tied my loyalty to the product:

I watched the video on this page of Lush co-founder Helen Ambrosen describing this product. If you haven't watch this video yet, I highly recommend that you do. She says in the video that she has been using this product to clean her face for 35 years. Think about how long of a time period that it and look at her skin in the video. It looks and probably feels like baby soft skin.

I'm 26 years old. I have combination skin, a little oily in the T-zone, normal everywhere else on my face. I use this product every night. I just apply it to all areas of my face, massage in it, and use a damp cotton pad to remove any unpleasant residue on my face. I don't use a lot of it. I pay special attention to the sides of my nose and under my eyes. It is gentle enough for me to use on the skin right underneath my eyes. Thank you Lush. This product makes me feel like my face is glowing radiantly.

As suggested by a lush representative, I used this product to remove my makeup before bed. I would clean it off with a warm and damp facecloth. I would then tone my face with Eau Roma Water. It is a nice product initially. Your skin looks like a million bucks as soon as you wake up, however, after using this product for about two months my skin broke out incredibly (I am currently suffering from several cystic pimples… a problem I have rarely had). It is the worst I have ever seen my skin. I strongly believe in lush products and using natural face cleansers so I quickly switched to Herbalism and have been using Grease Lightning as a cream over my problem areas. I have only been doing this new routine for about a week now, so we shall see where this leads.

I decieded to try Ultrabland to help reduce litter of makeup wipes. At first I was worried about this produt because when I smoothed it on it had a greasy and oily look to it. My skin is already oily and acne-prone as is so I do not want to make it any worse. However I washed the cream away and patted my face dry and it did not look so oily! I followed with my favorite Lush cleanser, toner, and moisturizer and absolutely love the clean feel.

I love Ultrabland because it removed my make up without irritation and when I remove eye-make up it does not sting or make my eyes watery and skin oily like the wipes that I used to remove my make up before!

I absolutely love it!! Magic in a cute black pot!

Price: Slightly more expensive, but will last a while
My skin type: Combination. Dry skin that flakes on my chin, cheeks, nostrils and forehead. Oily T-zone and chin.

The first time I tried this product (as a sample) I wasn't really sold on it. It seemed really weird. I was told to apply it to my face when it was dry and wipe it off with a wet face cloth afterwards (I apply it before I shower and wipe it off in the shower). It also had a very waxy texture and I wasn't sure I liked that. I decided to give it another go and I used it for another couple days. While I was still trying to get used to the texture, I did start noticing results. I ended up going out to Lush and bought the product.
My skin usually dries out after a shower, and especially after using other cleansers (I find that St. Ives & Neutrogena have dried out my skin, Aveeno makes it more oily, etc). Ultrabland did not leave my skin feeling dry at all. I usually have to apply moisturizer to my face after I shower or my face "cracks" but surprisingly didn't have to after using Ultrabland. I quickly got used to the texture as well and I kind of like it now.
I also used to have a lot of sebaceous filaments on my nose (I used to think these were blackheads). Nothing I used ever got rid of the sebaceous filaments in my nose. It made my nose pores look huge and it was embarrassing. I used to use nose strips and the amount that came out on the strips was really gross. The reason I posted this review was because I've noticed these sebaceous filaments have pretty much disappeared after 3 weeks of using Ultrabland. I used a nose strip tonight and ALMOST NOTHING came out of my nose.

Cons: If you have really oily skin you may find it makes you skin slightly shiny

I have combination skin (oily in warmer months, super dry in colder ones) and it's prone to the occasional blemish. I used to have horrible acne but prescriptions from my doctor helped a lot...however, I always felt my skin still had some impurities. I hoped UltraBland would be easy to use and make my skin perfect, but that was not the case. My skin looks no different than if I use a cheaper cleanser. Also, I'm the type where I like to use face wash in the shower a few times a week since I won't bother with it if I have to do it every night at my sink. The actual texture of this product was weird, and it had an unpleasant smell. It was wayy too thick. On a positive note, it was a gentle make-up remover (a tip though, make sure to rub the product in upward circles around your eyes, I did it downwards at first and it just put all the makeup into my eye). All in all, if you want a makeup remover and you can deal with the thickness of it, then I would say go for it. Me however? I just purched Angels on Bare Skin and I'm hoping to like it better (plus I can use it in the shower!) :)

After a certain highly-publicized-product fiasco, I was left with extremely sensitive and irritable skin. Even after washing with just water, I would be left with raw, peeling skin which could only be tamed with aloe gel- and tons of it.

Ever since, I've always been on the look out for a product that could manage my oily, dry, red, generally messed up skin. Finally, I came across Ultrabland and thought it was a fantastic idea- hundreds of chemicals brought my skin to this, a simple, natural formula could bring it back.

I was right. Ultrabland is nothing but morning-dew in a tub. At first use it's a surprise to come by, because if you're anything like me, you're used to the feel of the usual cleansers, where U.B. feels almost like a moisturizer. I love it because it does get my face clean, while locking in moisture and suppleness and providing a dewy glow that lasts.

It is a bit of a hassle to need to wipe it off with a cloth or a cotton pad, but if you bring U.B. in the shower with you and wipe it off with a cloth in there, you really don't add many minutes to your morning routine!

My skin used to be so awful. Dry, oily, breakouts, blackheads, all of it.
I started using Ultrabland about 8 months ago and I don't think I'll ever give it up. My skin is so nice now. I'm not even going to blather on about all of the reasons I love it, because I'd be here forever.

It's amazing to me how much dirt and gross comes out of my skin every time I use it, even on days I haven't worn make up. I don't really like to use it as a make up remover, but to each their own.

This is a must have life saver, for sure.

I've been using this product for years - I find it's the best for removing make-up. I use it as the first step in my nightly cleansing routine. I take off my make-up with it, wipe it off with a wet face cloth, and follow with a gentle cleanser, then moisturize. I wear waterproof eyeliner, mascara and liquid foundation, and I find Ultrabland takes it off wonderfully!
