I usually buy the Hsuan Wen Huan and find it alright. I received a gift card and bought my purchase online and came across this product and figured I would buy it along with my usual products. I now regret buying one of each I should have just bought the strokes since now the Hsuan Wen Hua just does not measure up............pity it is only online!! The smell is a little strong but the effects last for a few days! Once I use this other tub of Hsuan Wen Hua I will be purchasing the strokes from now on

I decided to order this instead of my usual Jasmine & Henna Fluff-ease just to change things up. I was a little worried what the smell would be like after reading some of the reviews but once I opened the container, I couldn't believe how amazing it smelled! It doesn't really have a beer-y smell, it smells more like lemongrass and ginger to me and the scent lingers for a couple days after washing it out. I have extremely curly hair and The Strokes makes my hair softer and less frizzy. My friend, who has straighter, thinner hair also used it and found it gave her hair really nice shine and bounce! My hair is also very thick and should length, I have used The Strokes 3 times now and have enough left for another hair mask! So for $20 you get roughly 3-4 treatments, not bad at all!

I use Rehab shampoo & American Cream conditioner daily. I use this twice a month on my thick course hair. it softens my hair nicely. Although I don't care for its smell, I found this product to be true to its promises.

I have APL unprocessed kinki curly hair (type 4a everywhere on my head except the middle which is 4b in texture). I wash my hair daily in the summer and 2x/week in the winter. I use the strokes year round, but more so in winter.
My winter routine usually consists of me using a lush shampoo to wash then conditioning with flowers in bloom (or onother conditioner depending on my mood :). I wash out the conditioner with aloe vera juice then detangle and twist my hair using the strokes. It stokes my curls into submission and has the moisture my hair type needs for the winter months. I Love it!
The smell might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I don't mind it and my husband likes it. Lucky me! Added bonus: it doesn't leave my hair stiff when I use it for twist outs or braid outs.

Everything about this product is amazing, with the exception of the scent. If you love Cynthia Stout, this product is for you. I, on the other hand, do not like the scent of Cynthia.

I have oily roots and dry ends and fine, thinning (thanks thyroid) hair. This gave my hair incredible shine, bounce, volume and health. Great smell and lasting results. I use it once to twice a week. I was hearbroken when it was no longer available. Thank you for bringing it back, but why, oh why, is this only available online and your much INFERIOR hu shw whatchamicallit is in the stores. Also too, your Jasmine Fluff stuff doesn't rate that highly. Do you read these reviews? Come on LUSH, wake up!! Stroke your customers and put Strokes back in the stores! Pretty pleeeeez!

I loved this when it first came out and am very happy it has been brought back as a Lush Retro product. It smells great...think beer and lemons...and works well. I have meduim thick wavy/curly hair and this is the best product I have found to restore moisture and shine to very dry hair, something I have problems with, especially in the winter time. I have recommended this to friends before and wouldn't hesitate to do so for anyone else who has dry and coarse hair.
