At the start of every winter, the cold weather wrecks havoc on my skin and hair. Giant flakes were lifting off my scalp at the front of my head (totally gross). I tried this, I find that bar melts as I touch it - I roll the bar around in one hand and apply the product to my scalp, then switch hands and repeat. I takes a few minutes to apply, and I guess the hair looks sort of greasy - but I think getting any oil like treatment to the scalp, would add a greasy look to hair. The first time I used it, I left it in over night. My scalp feels great. I'm going to use this 3 times a week, after the second use, the condition of both my hair and scalp has improved! I actually used it with the cinnamon solid shampoo, instead of the soak and float - this combo works great for me!

The bright side is this actually doesn't smell as bad as soak and float. I bought both products and soak and float was so bad I had to toss it. Snake oil still smells awful, but they also packaged it in plastic which kept the smell away from my other products (soak and float was in paper and I had to throw out all the packaging and repackage my bath things)

It DID help my scalp some. I used it last night and I have not found any flakes. Also I didn't have to use much product to coat my scalp.

I did have to re-shower because even after I washed it out twice my hair is still weirdly stiff and greasy looking once it dried. It was hard to apply to the scalp, and so I also got it on the first couple inches of my hair - yuck!

Also - It really started to sting before I washed it off, and there was more hair in my comb than usual today when I combed my hair (eek!).

So it DOES seem to work for flakes, but I wont be using it again as greasy stiff hair is actually more noticeable than flakes.

If you have no where to go the day you use it and have time to wash it out a few more times the next day, then I would suggest you try it for flakes! I would warn you first about the smell, the sting, and the residue.

Comments about LUSH Snake Oil Scalp Treatment Bar:

I used this on my two-year-old son's dry, itchy scalp. We had tried olive oil, almond oil...nothing seemed to work. He would scratch his poor little scalp until it bled :( However, after using snake oil twice, his scalp is no longer scaly or itchy...brilliant! I will admit the smell isn't a selling feature...unless you really like campfires, but the results are worth it. Highly recommended for those with scalp issues!

I was at first really dubious that it would work as I have tried everything under the sun to help cure my itchy scalp but as soon as I put it on, my scalp felt fabulous. The itching was gone! I do have to say that you have to wash your hair off twice in order to get all the grease off but it was well worth it! My hair feels and looks amazing and my scalp is really calm. Its never been this calm since forever. The only complaint that I would have is the fact that it's a little of a hassle to get on; although, after awhile its easier once you get used to it. THANK YOU LUSH!

I would not recommend this one. I tried it for dandruff, but my hair became sticky and greasy. I had to wash it several times to get the residu out.

I love several dry shampoos Lush makes, but this one I will not recommend to anyone.

Comments about LUSH Snake Oil Scalp Treatment Bar:

So I ended up using it wrong for my first try but that's okay. The results were instant. I thought this was a daily conditioner (as the Lush rep suggested) and she said to use Soak and Float, then rub Snake oil with my hands and just rub it into my scalp. Well, I did, then rinsed it out (like any conditioner and found it wasn't washing out that well) so I left it thinking I would try washing it out in the morning.

All I can say is that this is the first time I've used it and I am amazed. Normally when I come out of the shower, my scalp feels tight and itchy. During the day I'm constantly need to scratch my scalp and of course there's the dandruff. I don't know yet whether this will stop the dandruff but all I know is that my scalp feels calm -- it's so amazing. No tightness, no feeling of itchiness. I'm going to actually add more Snake oil to my hair again and leave it overnight as other users have recommended then wash it out with Soak and float again.

I am just amazed that with my one and only use, my scalp feels great. Hope it works just as well with the flakes!

Comments about LUSH Snake Oil Scalp Treatment Bar:

I bought this bar because I was having issues with a very itchy scalp and light dandruff, and nothing I was using was working save for prescription products. Eczema runs in my family and I had been feeling that my skin all over my body was getting much more sensitive and I was having uncomfortable and embarrassing eczema flare ups on my face. I used the bar on my head a few times and I have seen NO traces of dandruff and absolutely ZERO itch ever since! As for my eczema, I applied the bar directly to the areas on my face where I was having flaking, scaling and cracking. I left it on, didn't rinse it. I was instantly soothed and the bar provides enough moisture to allow the skin to heal without drying out. Whenever I have a flare up, I apply it once per day for a couple of days and everything heals up great. I'll be eczema free for weeks and I love it. I hope to spread the word to more people that you can use this for your normal skin issues as well because it was honestly a godsend to me and my poor face!

If you simply warm it up in your plans and then get the product onto your fingertips and massage your scalp the product works wonders. It relieves dry scalp and any itchiness as well. I find the peppermint helps with hair follicle stimulation as well. I enjoy the smell as well; smells like someone lit a peppermint candy on fire, sweet and smokey.

Comments about LUSH Snake Oil Scalp Treatment Bar:

I bought this for the small patch of psoriasis I had at the top of my head. It worked great.

However, out of desperation, I ended up using it on the patches of psoriasis I had on my arm, ankle, thigh, chest, and back. I rubbed in on like a massage bar. The minty bits relieved the itching and the oils help lessen the flakes.

After a week of using this, the red patch on my arm is almost gone. As for the rest of my body, still waiting for the red patch to go away but at least no flaky skin or insane constant itching.

I know this is for your scalp but I would use it on psoriasis anywhere on your body. For me, it worked better than the Lush lotion (Coco) or massage bar (Therapy) that I bought specifically to help with my psoriasis.

I used my snake oil for the first time this morning. I did find it a little difficult to apply but I always have cold hands so I used my blow dryer to warm it up and dragged it along my scalp. Over my morning coffee I could feel it tingling and working away. I did have to scrub my hair a little harder to make sure it was out but my hair looked great all day and didn't itch my scalp at all!

Comments about LUSH Snake Oil Scalp Treatment Bar:

In the winter I suffer from a really dry scalp that often gets itchy and flakey. I use this in conjunction with the Soak and Float Solid Shampoo Bar and they work better than any other treatment I have ever tried. After a week of using these products the flakes were completely gone. I don't notice that this bar has a particularly awful scent, and even if it did (like the soak and float), I wouldn't care because it works. Others have found that it is difficult to apply, and it is if you apply it the way Lush recommends. Instead, when I have the oven on I put the bar in a bowl on top of the stove to let it warm up a bit (I tried the microwave but it got too hot). This melts it slightly and allows you to spread it more easily, apply more at a time, and focus it more on the actual scalp. Overall I love this and it has been an absolute saviour.

Comments about LUSH Snake Oil Scalp Treatment Bar:

The bar itself is kind of difficult to apply, so I cut it up into little chunks and microwaved the chunk that I wanted to use before applying it to my scalp with a basting brush. Works much better this way. I use it at night and wash my hair twice, then once again the next morning before work. I have never had an issue with it leaving residue in my hair this way.
Every winter my scalp gets nasty and flaky. This product seems to keep it at bay for about a month or so, and then I reapply. One bar lasts for the fall/winter season. The smell is strange, but bearable. I don't smell it in my hair the next morning after re-washing it. Works like a charm!

I went into lush because i wanted to get NEW solid shampoo for my thin hair and the sales girl told me this would help with hair growth, didnt tell me that it was a dandruff bar... so frustrated.
regardless i thought healthy scalp healthy hair so ive been using it even day as directed....
the only thing i did like about it was the smell and playing with the bar. other then that it was impossible the apply to my scalp. I felt like a lot of the product was wasted on my ends.

It was really bad! Its hard to use and after I dried my hair from the shower it felt greasy and I couldn't brush my hair because the roots were dry and sticky. It didn't even work! My hair is still dry and really flaky. :(

I found it really difficult to apply only to my scalp, so to avoid getting it everywhere and having greasy hair, I melted the bar in the microwave, and then applied the oil to my scalp by parting my hair in sections and applying with a basting brush.

Works well. Scent isn't terrible but it is smokey. Reminds me of bacon.

I tried to use this product, but the smell was so bad, it turned my stomach. But I wanted to give it a chance, so I tried it. It was very greasy, and left my hair looking greasy as well. I would not recommend this product, just because of the smell. I did not even finish it. I had to throw it out.

Comments about LUSH Snake Oil Scalp Treatment Bar:
