This soap didn't last very long as a hand soap, let alone in the shower/tub. It looks creamy but not a speck of moisture to be found in it. The oats leave a mess in my sink as well. It doesn't have a very strong scent and the oats are very rough, even for an exfoliant.

I loved the smell of this soap but I found that it didn't last very long. I think it should have rolled oats in it instead of whole oats because i found that when using it directly on the skin it was very scratchy. Best used with a loufa, cloth etc.

This product is great for eczema and dry skin. I always moisturize after a shower, but my skin usually dries out anyways later in the day. I find when I use this soap that after moisturizing, I do not have to reapply lotion and I do not become itchy. I recommend this soap for sensitive skin, including facial skin. I use it on my face when I have a 'flare up' and it calms my skin down. It does leave a bit of a 'dry' feeling but just moisturize your face right after the shower and you are all good.

The oat bits do get everywhere but your shower should rinse them away. They feel great against irritated skin for a nice relaxing 'scratch' without damaging your skin. If it bothers you too much, the soap lathers well in your hands for you to spread it yourself.

This is my first LUSH product. I had been curious about LUSH for a looong time but never got around to checking it out until last week. One of the items I bought was Porridge. I love the scent and in my opinion it smells even better in the shower.

I do not find this too harsh on my skin like other people have mentioned, it does not scratch or feel rough, but is exfoliating and leaves my skin smooth.

I was a little concerned that this wouldn't lather up to a degree that I would like because I am used to using body wash, and though it doesn't lather up as much it definitely does lather and feels great against the skin.

I find myself walking into the bathroom just to go smell the bar, I love it! I would definitely repurchase this item once I am out.

As for fall out, yes you do get fallout from the peices of oats that are in there, but I haven't found it troublesome at all and it just goes down the drain with the water run off so there isn't much to be concerned about there. If you want you can put in a drain catcher.

I love that there is no wasted packaging with these. I can just bring in my tin to the store and get a refill with no plastic bottles or boxes to throw out down the road.

Definitely a great product, and if you are hesitant just ask for a sample. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable.

I only use on a loofa, on skin only makes for a scratchy experience. It smells so good and leaves skin so soft. A+++

This is kind of funny, but anyway, today I got bit by a bug on the arm, and wasn't even aware of it until, my arm started getting itchy, then I remembered reading a review on how one of the products made bug bites less itchy, but I forgot what the product was. Since I just got a bunch of stuff from Lush, I thought I would look through to see if anything triggered my memory. Then I seen the sample of portage soap, and thought, well, this may not be it, but what's more soothing then oatmeal. So I thought I would try to wash the bite with that, and instantly, the itch went away. Now the smell. First, smelling it out of the plastic, I wasn't a huge fan of the scent, BUT, once I had washed with it, the smell became much nicer. I think I would repurchase this, it would be great for the winter months, as my skin tends to dry.

I LOVE this soap! It was a rediscovery of mine when I ran out of lush soap. I love the creamy lather of the soap, the delectable smell, and its gentle exfoliation. I highly recommend this soap. It's truly one of my favourites.

Although I enjoy this soap very much, it tends to make a tiny mess in my bath, but I forgive the mess it makes because I couldn't live without this soap. Just a thought!

i love the smell of this and love the way it makes my skin feel. it lasts quite a long time and you can get quite a few washes out of it ( showering every day 1 month having it only half gone ). i would buy this porduct again but the only problem with it is that the oats are WAY TO BIG, i feel like i bought more oats then soap... which is sad for me because the soap is amazing!

I really love the smell of this soap and how well it lathered... in the beginning. I found that after a while it dried out a bit and would not lather like it used to. I also find that the little bits on the outside fall off constantly and I have to rinse out my tub everytime I shower with it! I do have to say though, the smell alone makes up for it! I think next time I'll just get a smaller bar so it doesnt dry out on me again.

I absolutely love this soap. Not only does it smell amazing, but it does wonders for my skin as well. It's creamy and moisturizing, as well as exfoliating. It's everything I could ask for in a soap. Yes, it does leave little oats in the bottom of my bath tub, but I'm willing to forgive it for that.
If you find that it gets a bit too scratchy for your liking, a sales associate at my local Lush suggested melting it in the microwave for 30 seconds or so, in a small microwave safe container. This would allow all of the oats to settle to the bottom. Then when the soap sets again, you will have one scrubbly side, and one creamy side. I haven't tried this since I love the scrubbiness of this soap, but it sounds like an excellent idea, so I thought I would pass it along.

I love this so much. First of all it smell SO good. Second It is a scrubby soap which I love, everyone says that it is to harsh but I don't think it is at all.
I got a ( very big) sample and NEED to get a bigger slice asap I really think everyone should try this. Also there was no mess like people were saying. LOVE THIS STUFF

After hearing rave reviews about this soap from my friends, and falling completely in love with the scent I knew I had to try it.

It smells like molasses and oatmeal (oatmeal being one of my favourite scents), just a warm comforting scent that's great for cold winter mornings.

It was love at first sight and sniff. The soap lathers very well (one of the best soaps for lather). I have very dry skin, but when I use this I find I can skip out on using lotion. The soap melts too quickly, and can get expensive for everyday use. At first it doesn't seem to be oaty, but don't be fooled. At the end the bar seems to be a mass of oats with barely any soap to it. The oats get VERY messy and require a lot of cleanup!!

Overall, I would buy this again; however, not for everyday use. Mainly for a handsoap or when I need a good exfoliation.

I have been using the soap for about 2 years now. I am obsessed with it. It smells wonderful and it leaves my skin feeling so nice and soft. Some people complain that the oats make it rough, but that is my favorite part if it. The oats give it a great scrubby quality.

I use porridge on my back, where I have a hard time washing and back acne. This does a great job. The scratchy-ness of the oats really helps prevent me from breaking out, but really getting the dirt off. Also, like a back scratcher in a soap,so it feels great and relaxing.

It lathers too well. I have to shut off the shower in order to prevent it from washing away.

This soap is sweet scented and is so very promising if not for the too large oatmeal. If the oatmeal were say blended and part of the soap it would be heavenly. If you use this as an exfoliant, you'll end up looking like a cat attacked you. It's too rough for human skin. Perfect for an armadillo. The oatmeal was stuck everywhere. Make sure you have time to clean your shower when your done

I fell in love with this soap right after I smelled it! It smells so good! It reminds me of a chocolate oatmeal cookie... yum ^.^ I have several large blocks at home because it doesn't last long but it is SO worth it! I mixed this with the candy cane soap once, and it kinda over powered porridge but I smelled like a mint chocolate oatmeal cookie :)

I really love the smell of this soap, and the way it lathers on a loofah. The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because there are way too many oats in this soap. It rips apart my loofah. I would like to repurchase this again, but only if I'm able to find a piece with less oats.
