I did write that the only con was it smells bad..honestly, it's not even THAT bad. I didn't think it smelled amazing...but I didn't smell it while it was on my hair and after my hair was rinsed I couldn't smell it in my hair at all. I don't think it smells like salad dressing but more like chai tea. If people think this smells bad they should try the brazen honey face mask..that is much more of a scented product! All in all this product is amazing and left my hair feeling great. I recently lightened my hair and it was feeling quite dry and this made my hair feel wonderful again.

I had a perm done, which ended up being overprocessed and dried out. My hair was damaged so much that I was told to cut most of it. I tried this product and left it on overnight and my hair is amazing. It's almost back to its normal health, its not frizzy and doesnt look like a cotton ball anymore. I am soo pleased. So worth the money. Its a little heavy for normal hair, so if your haair isnt damaged or dry dont use so often.

Background info about my hair: I used to have very thick, black, curly, frizzy hair (my background is Italian-Canadian). My hair is pitch black with grey's that need to be addressed every several months. I started using a straightener on my curly hair a little over 10 years ago...my mother warned me not to and I regret not listening to her and just embracing the curl! I am almost 37 years old now and my once thick, curly hair is no longer. My hair is clearly damaged - parts of it (mostly the ends and about 5 inches up) no longer curl at all. Half my hair is dead straight - "fried" would be a common expression - and I believe in large part due to all the heat damage I have caused. In addition, my hair is thinning and it has reduced in volume by at least half. This all hit me about 6 months ago when I started really noticing a very distinct change in my hair. The "dead" parts were very difficult to run a brush through when straightening it...then ends felt much like an S.O.S. pad is the best way to describe it. I've been researching several ways to "revive" my hair without cutting it all off! Which brings me to LUSH.

I recently saw an episode of "Undercover Boss" which prompted me to look at LUSH products again and see if there would be anything to help my damaged hair. I visited the Mississauga Square One location (great service by the way!) and I was introduced to this product (it came highly recommended by the staff who worked there). So I purchased it and upon returning home, started reading all the reviews on this product (also recommended by the staff member).

So here is my review: the product is great! It was SO silky and easy to work with. Applying it was easy, but it did take some effort to really coat all strands of my curly, tangled hair with it dry. I let it soak in for about 30 minutes. The smell, to me is NOTHING like salad dressing. I would agree with one person's description of the smell as "Chai tea"...I don't drink the stuff but yes, it does really describe the smell the best. My batch had a strong smell of cinnamon and rosemary - the combination is a nice smell and not at all offensive. After the 30 minutes, I rinsed (WOW how soft it felt as I rinsed it out!), shampooed, conditioned, etc with my own products...and I IMMEDIATELY felt a VERY noticeable difference! My hair felt MUCH smoother, softer and silkier compared to just use with my regular products. But to me, the biggest test would be how it felt while blowdrying with a brush - since my hair had been so dry and "dead", this was a difficult process. And once again, a VERY NOTICEABLE difference! I was able to blow dry my hair with much more ease - my hair is clearly softer and it has a very nice shine to it as well - a shine I haven't seen in a while with my hair being so dry and damaged! My hair is not perfect and "healed" of course - this product has helped TREMENDOUSLY - but with my hair being SO fried, I wasn't expecting a miracle right away. I also noticed less frizz and a little more body - another bonus for my currently thinning hair. This product washed out beautifully and did NOT leave my hair feeling weighed down or greasy! I am left feeling very impressed by the product after a one-time use and I look forward to seeing the results after another application in a week's time. The smell does linger in my hair but again, I find the "chai tea" smell nice and much better than the "burnt hair" smell I usually have after I blow dry and straighten!

I will post another comment in a week's time, once I see how the next few days go and after another application. So far...GREAT product and VERY impressed! I keep running my fingers through my hair as it just feels SO much better than before! Good job LUSH!

I have longish fine (but lots of it) hair (it's around the bottom of my shoulder blades and I ended up using about 3/4 or the container) and I have been going blonder for 8 months now. With Canadian winter, my hair was parched. I could barely get a comb through it when it was dry. When it was wet it was like one giant dreadlock.

Using this was like giving my hair a big drink of water. I used Blousey shampoo and Happy Happy Joy Joy (with a tad of Retread on the tips) for conditioning and my hair is amazing now. It cut my combing time by half, if not less (still a bit tangled, so I think I will do as they recommend and do this a couple more times).

I have been using Marilyn every two weeks, but I think for the winter time I will alternate between Marilyn and this one.

Yes, it smells and feels like you're putting salad dressing on your hair, but I can only smell my conditioner right now, so the smell washes out.

A must-have for dry/damaged/processed hair.

My hair is extremely dry from constant coloring and being naturally curly. I have never used a product that instantly softened and conditioned my hair bringing it back to life. I have tried everything to bring my hair back to life including protein treatments and nothing worked like this product. It softened, defrizzed and brought back the bouncing curls to my hair.

I was wary of this product based on reviews that it didn't smell so great. I have a heightened sense of smell, and I find it totally bareable. I'll smother my hair (I have fine hair, a good 2 inches past my shoulders) with about 1/4 (or less) of the pot. Does it smell like roses? No. But is it so bad it makes you sick? Absolutely not. I find once you get it on, it's a faint enough smell that it goes away.

I immediately feel results as I'm rinsing my hair. It already feels softer to the touch. I find the next day, my hair is soft & easy to manage. My hair is somewhat dry & coloured, and I will continue to buy this mask to revive it.

In the summer I (foolishly) bleached the heck out of my beautiful dark brown wavy hair. This resulted in me having to cut off several inches and not being able to even brush or comb it. I immediately went to my local Lush store where the Lovely Lush Ladies as I like to call them recommended this treatment right away. Thank goodness. It smells GREAT - like uncooked banana bread dough. I slathered it on 2 days in a row, left it on for as long as I could - an hour if I recall, both times. Afterwards, my hair was at LEAST 50% better each time. It is truly great. It saved my hair. Now I am back to my natural color for the most part and still treat my locks to this once a month or more when I can afford it. Well worth the price.

I was really reluctant to try this, because it was the first item from Lush that I thought smelled disgusting. And it kind of does, in the jar. The sales girl told me that the smell wouldn't stick to my (thick, frizzy, fluffy) hair, so I gave it a chance.

Well, my hair is so silky and feels like nice, real hair. And not only that, it smells amazing. I've washed my hair with other products since using H'Suan Wen Hua and my hair still smells so spicy and nice. It smells like I soaked my hair in chai tea or something. I love it. I'll definitely buy it again.

I'm not going to write a long review for this product because there's not much to say besides how it transformed my hopeless hair forever. I use trichomania shampoo, okra conditioned, and while these helped my hair significantly this transformed it forever. The effects do last for weeks, months even. My hair will never be the same. It doesn't smell good, but it's entirely worth it and the smell goes away after a day or so. Amazing. If you have dry, damaged, or fried hair this is what you need.

I was picking up a bottle of conditionar at my local Lush and the associate recommended it, so I gave it a try. My hair is normally oily on the scalp, but my ends are quite dry and brittle because of my heat styling addiction. I tried it this morning and I knew I didn't like the smell, but I did it anyway.
My hair has never been so soft and silky. Frizzies are gone and it looks great.
However, I do not like the smell. I don't even think it's really THAT bad, but it's strong and it's following me everywhere.
I might use it again, but not until I forget about the smell.

I have really really dry hair and when I got this I had hoped that it would help moisturise. After waiting about an hour after I put it in and I washed my hair it felt soo soft! but when it dried I felt like there wasn't a noticble difference. I still have a lot left in the pot so I'm going to try to make this into a weekly mask and see if it improves over time. Also I did not mind the smell but my friend who had also gotten a pot found it disgusting.

My hair is extremely thick, I use this product every Sunday or so to deep condition all my hair. I have to use quite a lot of this produt to get all my hair covered by I think people with a more normal amount of hair would have to use far less. I put the product on my dry hair and let it sit for about 20-30 minutes. Then I rinse it out with warm water. I do not use other shampoo or conidtioner with this product. I would suggest blow drying your hair after because I find when I let my hair air dry after using this product it becomes very greasy. What great about this product is how much a natural shine it gives to my brown hair, its awesome if you heat style your hair, colour it, or have a senstive scalp. The smell is kind of odd, smells more like dinner than something you put on your hair. It also makes my hair greasy, I usually just shampoo my hair the following evening after using this product. I would recommend this product to people with thick hair more than people with thin hair for that reason..

My hair has the usual conditions that go with aging (I'm 60) and coloring- it's dry and generally abused with a curling iron.

After I color my hair I wash it and towel-dry it, then apply a fairly heavy dose of H'suan. I leave it in for a half-hour or more, with a shower cap over my head, then rinse out and style.

Trust me when I say I ALWAYS get compliments on my (now artificial) strawberry-blonde hair. I am amazed by how healthy this product makes my hair look.... it is a hair-saver!

I really liked this stuff, as it left my hair really soft. A couple of bad things about it though: it is pretty messy to use in dry hair (and it feels kinda weird), and the smell does linger in your hair for a few days. Not necessarily a bad thing, since I do like the smell of this stuff, but unless you like a salad dressing smell in your hair, might want to go with another treatment.

So lovely. I have very fine, very dry curly hair; I don't have dandruff, but lately my scalp has been very dry and itchy. Of course, Lush is my go-to place to find new products to use because their staff is always so knowledgeable! I left the store with this product and R & B hair moisturizer and I am so pleased.

I tried the H'suan wen hua right away when I got home. I let it sit for 25 minutes or so and noticed an immediate difference in the texture of my hair when I got out of the shower. I combed in a tiny bit of R & B and let it air dry. It was like I just got my hair cut! Where it had been dry and somehow simultaneously frizzy and limp before, it is now soft and shiny and curly. Definitely recommend this product.

I loved this product! My hair is pretty long and it says to use the whole tub on long hair but I actually got several uses out of it. The first smell that hit me was the smell of bananas. I actually loved the smell and how it felt on my scalp and hair when I applied it. It's best to put some on and then have a bath while waiting for 20 minutes to pass by. I used it once a week and it left my hair conditioned, soft and very manageable. I don't mind spending money on products that work.

I read a lot of people who said that this product smelled too strong for them, but that's definitely not the case for me. I can't get enough of this smell! It says to leave it on for about 20-25 minutes, but I leave it in for longer... approx. 45 minutes... I do dishes, watch TV, & time just flies by. Once you're out of the shower you'll already feel the difference in the softness of your hair and the dead ends. While the smell of this amazing hair mask lasts, I don't think that the treatment lasts longer than a day. If you have special plans one night or a special occasion and you want your hair to look shiny and amazing, definitely buy this product.

I abuse my hair constantly. Bleach, blow-dry, straighten, dye it darker, bleach again, etc. I have tried nearly every deep conditioning hair treatment on this planet, spending so much money on so many ineffective products. I have been purchasing lush products for a while now, and after reading many mixed reviews on here (and other makeup review sites) but I decided to give it a try. If worse comes to worse they'll let you return it if you hate it!
I'm extremely happy with the results of this treatment. I brushed my hair before application, and I didn't use a lot at all considering my thicker, well-past shoulder-length hair. Maybe 1/4 of the jar, not even? After application I clipped my hair up and watched a couple movies with my mom, so I rinsed it out after about 4 hours.
My hair is so dry that whether I blow-dry or air-dry, it will be extremely frizzy. After I use this product, no frizz! My split ends are slowly disappearing, and the smell is to die for! One of my main reasons for hesitating on purchasing was all the comments on the scent, but I agree with a couple others when they said it smelled like chai tea! Even my dad liked it, and he is NOT a fan of anything scented. I did, put it in the con section because it is very strong, and I can see how some people would be very put-off by that.
If you feel like your hair is so damaged the only solution is to shave it all off and start over again, I would highly recommend giving this a shot before you go that far!
