My hair is thick (in amount of it) but very fine and I highlight it a golden blonde. I also have hard water, so it can get a bit brassy. Thus, I got this shampoo to go with the Marilyn hair treatment, to be used every couple of weeks or so.

This product does what it says it will: helps with brassiness. For me though it is also drying so I wouldn't use it every day, but I still love it and will continue using it this way. I do love the results, but I would use this as a more clarifying/once in a while deal, at least if you have similar hair.

But to each their own :)

I use this product every time I wash my hair and it never dries it out. I never need to use conditioner with it. I style my hair with a very hot iron every day, and my hair no longer dries out, smells burnt or loses its shape. It lasts FOREVER. I use it almost everyday. I bought it in August. it is now December and there is still exactly half the bottle left. So you do get your money's worth.

Smells amazing, makes blonde hair look sooo shiny. This product must always be in my bathroom, I love it so much.
Downsides- hard to think of them. It's kind of runny so sometimes lots comes out by accident. Also it's purple so it's pretty obvious when it splashes on the shower wall.

I wish I bought the big bottle!

I recently bleached my natural (almost) black hair, all the way to a platinum blonde colour, then used an ash toner, and a lilac dye in my hair. So my hair was lavender with a a few grey highlights, and a lot of blonde lowlights.

I bought a bottle of Daddyo to hopefully eventually tone the blonde to grey, maintain the grey, and pale out the lavender eventually, to grey. (It's only really lavender to appease my mom).

I decided that I would use Daddyo once a week, and go the rest with Veganese conditioner (I use it as shampoo). I used Daddyo once, and I was beyond amazed with the results. I lathered it in my hair and left the lather in my hair for about 5 minutes, then rinsed and followed with a regular conditioner.

I experienced a "hairgasm" after my first encounters with both Seanik shampoo bar, and Big shampoo, where my hair is soft, smooth, and best of all, fluffy! I love fluffy hair, and Daddyo made my hair... the fluffiest it has been since my first time using Big, maybe even more. (For the volumizing scale, I'd say it's Seanik < Big < Daddyo)

My hair was also incredibly smooth, and impossibly soft, especially for hair that's been bleached as much as mine has.

The shampoo has a very dark violet colour, it seems like it'd be messy, maybe in a tub, but in the shower, you'll be fine. The only thing that did concern me is the slight pink tint, but it was still able to tone most of my hair straight to the colour I want it, with only one use. I think this would be amazing for people with grey/white hair, or lilac, like mine.

Overall, it left my hair very clean, soft, volumized, smooth, frizz-free, and also toned my blonde to a more ash tone.

I would say this would be good to use occasionally, maybe not everyday unless you have dark hair, was very ashy colour hair, or have A LOT of brassiness you want to tone down, because the toning did work, at least in mine.

Also, no pink stains in my hair, only toning. (:

The store was sold out of the full sized bottles so my father got a little lip-balm sized sample. Since my hair is short I've gotten two washes from it and I might get a third.
My hair is a short bob which is chin length when I let it curl. I'm a natural blonde with 2-3 inches of bleached hair on the bottom that I've been growing out. My roots are very light ash blond, which gets copper-y golden if I get any sun so I've always used purple shampoo in summertimes.
The dyes of the shampoo will startle you at first, like every other shampoo. You sometimes need an extra minute in your rince and if you're bleached white-white platinum you should never touch it or anything else with any dye in it until golden tones start peaking through. It didn't get rid of the brassy tones but since I only got two washes it may have just been because it didn't get the chance to work.
It does smell divine however and the scent is hardy but not strong. Anytime my curls hit my face I get a whiff. I do have oily hair, so it might be a bit too harsh for other hairtypes.

Although I did notice that my hair has gotten shinier, my hair is still dry and my scalp is itchy. I also found it messy to use due to intensity of the purple colour and was underwhelmed by the smell.

I bought this by mistake. When I read that it gave a great shine to your hair, I ordered it not realizing it was best suited for gray or blonde hair. I used it anyway on my brunette hair. I really like the smell, but be warned it is intense when you lather it up. After rinsing & styling the smell still lingers, although no longer intense. My kids would cuddle up with me just to smell my hair!! For shine I have fallen in love with "Rehab" shampoo, but I might gift this out to my sister who has blonde hair.

I can't speak for naturally blonde hair, but if you have bleached hair: watch out! When visiting a Lush shop, the person who was helping me kept pushing the Daddy-O shampoo on me. I told her I already had a purple shampoo at home that I was happy with (took care of any brassiness in my bleached tresses.) She gave me a small sample of the Daddy-O shampoo to try out, nonetheless, which was very generous. A little container the size of a small lip balm. I tried it out, lathered it and concentrated JUST ON MY ROOTS and frankly, thank god! That one-time, small-amount use was enough to make my roots look like they had been washed with beet-juice. I can't imagine what it would have done to my hair tips which are more porous! At least this way I was able to wear hats to cover up the mess at my roots. Tried a whole bunch of cleansing shampoos, including a shampoo for swimmer's hair which is supposed to rinse all metals and residues out, on top of washing out the chlorine: No dice. 5 weeks later I still had pink-purplish hair, albeit it had faded some. In the end I had to BLEACH and tone my hair to get it back to blonde. I say don't risk using this. Unless you're looking for light pink hair of course, in which case, this one's for you!

I have coloured treated red hair and I love it the results! I was hesitant at first because the shampoo is for blonde or grey hair but after using on my hair, I am in love! My hair looks brighter, looks no longer dull, and has more bounce to it. I used a dollar sized amount because I have very long hair and it takes a bit to cover my entire head. The only thing I dislike is that it really dries my hair so I recommend a really deep conditioner. Other than that, it's great!

Love this shampoo! I bought the biggest bottle, and I'm glad I did. It smells like sugared violets... it is very unique, and addictive :) It is more concentrated than the drugstore and salon purple shampoos I've used. A little goes a long way.



It lathers well and left my scalp feeling clean. I wish they would make a matching conditioner.

If you have blonde hair this is an absolute must-have to minimize brassy tones. And if you don`t have blonde hair get it anyways because it`s fantastic and makes hair smell great and feel soft. I have officially replaced my old purple shampoo with this and I am never going back! Plus this is way way more environmentally friendly and a little seems to go a long way :):):):) WORTH EVERY PENNY!

I got this free from an instore promo. I have a fairly bad dry scalp problem and always bought stinky anti-dandruff shampoo. This got rid of my dandruff.. I have had a couple of people ask me what shampoo I use as my hair smells wonderful (looks good too).

I tired it finally and love it! I have highlighted hair that sometimes gets brassy in between salon toning. I notcied that it made my blonde stand out even more so then before I started using daddy-O. The only downside to this shampoo is that is contains sulpates (salt) which drys out the hair (especially when it has been color treated/bleached!),fades color QUICK, and overall is a cheap filler/alternative to make the product "lather", If it only were to be more moisturizing & color safe, then it would be a total miracle worker! Prob works awsome on natural blonides!

Overall, I give it a thumbs UP when used once/twice a week ;)

I have black-brown hair that's prone to greasiness, shedding and dandruff. I use Daddyo as an anti-dandruff, amplifying shampoo. It gives my hair some volume and leaves it feeling soft and clean and fragrant! The smell of violets lasts a long time, which I love.

When my hair was a white-ish blonde colour i was told that a purple shampoo would help neutralize the yellow in my hair, and it did!! i was very pleased with this shampoo, the smell is pretty nasty, but once its in your hair its not that bad. now that my hair is red i still use this shampoo and love how shiny it makes my hair
