I LOVE THIS SOAP! I wasnt too sure what to think about it in the description, leaves you feeling very clean and soft, and the yummy smell does stay, but is not overpowering. Mind you I like sweet smells, but that arent too fruity, or overly sweet. This one is just right in between sweet and fresh.

This is a good soap overall, but the scent is not for me. I would recommend putting the bar in the fridge between baths or showers to make the soap last longer, or use it as handsoap. This one goes FAST!
There is a creamy lather and the scent lingers on your skin. I've been using it to wash some of my more delicate undergarments, and the scent is great for that, but I wouldn't say that I would want to smell that way all day.
Be careful how you store the soap; make sure that there is no water in the soap dish. Even with the small amount of residual water on the bar, the soap dissolved and had this weird gooey part on the bottom. It doesn't become watery enough to throw out, but it looks and feels really unpleasant.
As I said before, this is a good soap overall. Even though the scent if not for me, it does have a creamy lather and rinses without residue. So I'd still recommend this one to a friend.

This is sooo great! This is one I wouldn't have thought to buy but when I smelled it in the store I had to pick some up. I love that it lathers well (better than some of the other lush soaps) and that I can still smell the scent on me after I've rinsed and stepped out of the shower. I really love this product but I noticed it's not high on the bestsellers list. Please don't stop making it it's my favorite soap!

I simply love Alkmaar. While it may look plain on the outside, it is certainly not a boring effect once you begin to use it. It is a beautifully light scented and moisurizing soap which can be used all year round as the scent is quite seasonally neutral. I always like to have some of this around as it cleans well without being harsh on my sensitive skin. After rinsing soap I apply Ro's Argan in the shower and Dream Cream post-shower and have great results. This soap is definitely part of my skin softening regime.

I love this soap and I got it at a two for one sale, so lucky for me. It's quite pricey but it's definitely worth trying out. It smells absolutely wonderful and sexy and makes you feel so great like the Joy of Jelly, but so sad it's discontinued, but I love the scent of jasmine in this soap. It's not overpowering, just subtle and great!

This soap is absolutely amazing. My old favourite used to be I should coco but this soap quickly took its place. The lather is creamy and like the previous reviews stated is like washing yourself with a cashmere sweater. It is moisturizing enough that you dont need lotion afterwards and the scent is to die for. Well done lush!!

I'm a true LUSH addict... I think I've tried almost every LUSH soap, and I keep coming back to this one. It's the creamiest, most moisturizing, dreamy soap I've ever used. I have extremely dry skin and after I use it, it feels as though I've applied lotion. It's also great for sensitive skin and babies! I have a 1 year old son with eczema, and I use this for his bath. His skin is so soft after I bathe him with it, even softer than normal baby skin! And his eczema is under control! If you're new to LUSH and aren't sure which of their many wonderful soaps to try, start with Alkmaar, you won't be disappointed and your skin will thank you!

This soap really does remind me of cheese! It doesn't smell like it, but the creamy texture and white color certainly make me think of it. Although it smells better than cheese, I'm not a fan of the jasmine scent. Definently worth using if you like Silky Underwear though, since they have the exact same scent.

My friend gave me her sample of Alkmaar a while back, and I fell in love with it. So I recently bought a piece of it, and this soap is fabulous! I love the smell, I'm not sure what it's supposed to be, but I find myself just walking into my bathroom just to smell it. It lathers up pretty well, it's one of the more creamy soaps LUSH has to offer. The scent lingers on your hands which I like. Makes you feel clean and a bit moisturized. Definitely one of my favorites!

I bought a good size slice of this at the store about a week ago and was very excited to use it because I love the smell of jasmine. In the store I smelled a very large piece, but unfortunately the piece i got home was barely scented. It was very subtle and although it left me feeling squeaky clean, I couldn't smell anything despite lathering up my arms for awhile in the shower nor after I'd dried off.
So, a bit disappointed, a few days later I went back to Lush and got a large slice of Figs and Leave (AMAZING, I'll review that on its own page though), and figured I'd use up the Alkmaar later. Then during a shower, I forgot to grab my usual can of drugstore shave gel, and not wanting to use my precious Figgy soap, I decided to use the Alkmaar which was still in the same tin.
It moisturized and gave me a smoother shave than any shave gel (or hair conditioner which I've used in a pinch before) that I've ever used. Thick creamy lather, not sticky, and even out of the shower my legs didn't dry out like usual. I always follow shaving with my Each Peach and Two's a Pair massage bar on my legs and this time I only had to use a little on my calves rather than all over.
You pulled through in the end, Lush! I'll keep buying Alkmaar for shaving! :)
